Siemens Limited has been awarded a landmark contract worth Rs. 773 crore by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation to electrify Phase 2 of the Nagpur Metro Rail Project. The extensive contract spans 43 kilometers and involves outfitting 32 additional stations with state-of-the-art electrification and automation systems. Siemens Limited, a key player in industrial and infrastructure solutions, reported a sharp 37% year-on-year decline in net profit for the March quarter, falling to Rs. 408 crore. The drop was primarily attributed to elevated material costs and under-absorption of fixed expenses within its Digital Industries division. Despite profit challenges, revenue remained steady and the company recorded a substantial 44% surge in new orders, underscoring robust demand in Mobility and Smart Infrastructure.
