Biryani Blues, one of India’s rapidly growing quick service restaurant (QSR) chains, has secured USD 5 million (approximately Rs. 40 crore) in a pre-Series C funding round led by Carpediem Capital’s newly launched fund, Yugadi Capital. The latest investment is earmarked to accelerate the company’s growth strategy, including the rollout of over 100 new outlets across northern India, enhancement of its operational infrastructure, and expansion of its workforce. With this round, Biryani Blues now commands a valuation of USD 30 million, signaling investor confidence in the brand’s long-term growth potential and its positioning in India’s burgeoning food services sector.
Strategic Investment Fuels Expansion Plans
Biryani Blues, operated by Thea Kitchen Pvt. Ltd., is reinforcing its position in the Indian QSR market with a fresh infusion of capital. The company announced it has raised USD 5 million in a pre-Series C round led by Yugadi Capital, a fund backed by private equity firm Carpediem Capital, alongside participation from other undisclosed investors.
This funding will be instrumental in executing an ambitious growth blueprint that includes opening over 100 new outlets over the next three years. The expansion will predominantly focus on high footfall areas such as high street retail locations and shopping malls across North India.
From Humble Beginnings to Scalable Growth
Founded over a decade ago, Biryani Blues has evolved into a prominent QSR brand with a specialization in traditional Hyderabadi biryani and associated regional offerings. As of today, the brand operates 68 stores spanning North India and Bengaluru, a footprint it aims to more than double by 2028.
The chain’s rapid rise has been fueled by its ability to scale without compromising on quality or customer experience—two critical metrics in a market where differentiation can be elusive. The company's continued expansion beyond tier-one cities also signals an effort to tap into India's growing middle-class appetite for premium yet affordable dining.
Investor Confidence Remains Strong
This is not Carpediem Capital’s first investment in Biryani Blues. The fund previously led a Series A investment of USD 2 million between FY2016 and FY2017 and later participated in a Series B round worth USD 5 million in FY2022, led by Rebel Foods.
Arvind Nair, Chairman of Carpediem Capital, expressed continued confidence in the QSR’s trajectory. “With this infusion, we reinforce our belief in the management’s ability to scale its decade-long success story. Biryani Blues represents a compelling opportunity in India’s fast-evolving food retail market.”
The repeated interest from seasoned investors underscores the company’s perceived stability and future revenue-generating capacity.
Financial Performance and Valuation Insights
According to company disclosures, Biryani Blues achieved a revenue of USD 10 million in FY2025. Following the latest funding round, its valuation has been marked at USD 30 million—a notable increase that reflects both past performance and anticipated growth.
This valuation benchmark places the company in a strong position ahead of any potential Series C fundraising or strategic partnerships that may further fuel its market presence.
Broader Context: India's QSR Boom
India’s QSR sector has witnessed exponential growth in recent years, driven by urbanization, increasing disposable incomes, and a youthful demographic that prizes convenience and quality. Brands like Biryani Blues are well-positioned to ride this wave by offering a unique value proposition that blends authenticity with modern customer service and technology-led operations.
With its targeted expansion, upgraded logistics, and a focus on human capital, Biryani Blues appears to be setting the stage not only for regional dominance but also for a potential pan-India play.
