Rooter Posts Explosive Revenue Growth in FY25 as Gaming Commerce Drives Platform Strategy

Rooter, a leading content-to-commerce platform in India's gaming sector, has reported a remarkable 120% year-on-year revenue growth, reaching USD 10 million (approximately Rs. 82 crore) in FY25. This surge is largely credited to the success of Rooter Shop—its gaming commerce vertical—which now contributes 70% of total revenue. With over 85 million registered users and a current annual revenue run rate of USD 24 million, the company has also slashed its losses by 63% during the year. Rooter aims for EBITDA profitability in FY26, underpinned by aggressive scaling of commerce operations and a projected GMV run rate of USD 90 million by March 2026.

Rooter’s Business Evolution: From Streaming to Scalable Commerce

Once positioned primarily as a game-streaming platform, Rooter has successfully transitioned into a dynamic content-to-commerce ecosystem. Central to this transformation is Rooter Shop, the company’s commerce vertical launched in July and scaled aggressively starting October FY25.

By allowing users to purchase gaming merchandise and accessories directly through the platform, Rooter has opened up a lucrative revenue channel. The average user now spends Rs. 2,400 per month on Rooter Shop, signaling both strong product-market fit and consumer willingness to transact within the app’s ecosystem.

Revenue Composition and Strategic Growth

According to Founder and CEO Piyush, Rooter Shop now drives 70% of the platform's total revenue, with the remaining 30% coming from brand partnerships and other monetization avenues. This shift underscores a broader strategic pivot toward e-commerce-led monetization as a sustainable growth engine.

The company’s annual revenue run rate (ARR) currently stands at USD 24 million, and it has outlined ambitions to triple or quadruple revenue in the current fiscal year. Rooter’s leadership sees this growth trajectory as pivotal to establishing market leadership in the gaming commerce space.

Profitability in Sight Amidst Sharpened Financial Discipline

In a significant milestone, Rooter managed to reduce its losses by 63% in FY25, a testament to enhanced operational efficiency and disciplined financial management. With strong revenue inflows from Rooter Shop and tightened cost structures, the platform is now aiming for EBITDA positivity and full profitability in FY26.

Piyush noted that monetization through Rooter Shop not only generates revenue but also contributes meaningfully to the platform’s long-term sustainability. This has positioned Rooter as a rare example of a gaming-tech company in India transitioning from user acquisition to real, scalable revenue.

Scaling Ambitions: Roadmap to USD 90 Million GMV

Looking ahead, Rooter has set an ambitious goal of reaching a gross merchandise value (GMV) run rate of USD 90 million (approx. Rs. 738 crore) by March 2026. This would represent an exponential jump in transaction volume, reinforcing the commerce vertical’s central role in the company’s future.

Over the next 12 months, Rooter plans to double down on user engagement, expand product offerings in Rooter Shop, and improve its logistics and supply chain infrastructure to support rising demand.

Capital Backing and Global Investor Confidence

Rooter’s rapid growth and strategic clarity have earned it the trust of a diverse investor base, with USD 37 million raised in primary capital to date. Investors span across India, the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia—reflecting the platform's global appeal and the rising investor interest in India’s fast-evolving gaming sector.

With over 85 million registered users, Rooter has cultivated a massive user base and is now leveraging it for commerce-driven monetization—demonstrating a rare blend of scale, engagement, and revenue generation in the digital entertainment space.

Conclusion

Rooter’s FY25 performance illustrates a maturing business model driven by commerce innovation and prudent financial strategy. As it charts a course toward profitability and expanded scale in FY26, the company stands out as a compelling case of digital evolution in India’s burgeoning gaming economy. By marrying content and commerce, Rooter is not only redefining monetization in the streaming space but also setting the benchmark for sustainable growth in the creator economy.
