India’s Sugar Export Outlook for 2024-25 Marketing Year: Slow Start, Promising Future

India has shipped a total of 2,87,204 tonnes of sugar by April 8 in the 2024-25 marketing year, with shipments predominantly going to Somalia, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. While exports were allowed only starting in January 2025, the current pace is slower than anticipated, but experts predict an uptick in shipments within the next month. The total export quota for the year is set at one million tonnes.
