Cochin International Airport has expanded its export cargo handling capacity, marking a strategic step toward strengthening Kerala’s role in global trade. The upgrade is aimed at accommodating rising outbound shipments, particularly from sectors such as agriculture, seafood, pharmaceuticals, and light manufacturing. By enhancing infrastructure and streamlining logistics, the airport seeks to improve turnaround times and reduce costs for exporters.

Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) are planning significant expansions in ship repair infrastructure to cater to rising domestic and international demand. The initiative aims to modernize repair facilities, increase docking capacity, and adopt advanced technologies for efficient vessel maintenance. Analysts suggest that the expansion will boost India’s shipbuilding and repair competitiveness, reduce dependency on foreign ports, and generate employment opportunities.
