In a move that underscores India’s ascent as a global hub for financial technology innovation, Infosys has launched a new development centre at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) in Gandhinagar. The facility, designed to house over 1,000 employees in a hybrid work model, aims to deliver advanced solutions to the global Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector. This strategic investment positions Infosys at the forefront of digital transformation while fostering employment opportunities and catalyzing Gujarat’s rise as a fintech powerhouse.
A Strategic Investment in GIFT City
The new Infosys development centre was inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, who emphasized its role in elevating Gujarat’s global reputation in digital finance and technology. The centre is envisioned as a “TechFin hub,” focused on leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, generative AI, cloud computing, APIs, cybersecurity, and blockchain.
Expansive Services for Global BFSI Clients
According to a regulatory filing, the facility will offer specialized services in critical domains such as digital banking, regulatory affairs, trade finance, capital markets, cards and payments, and risk and compliance management. These offerings are tailored to meet the evolving needs of global BFSI clients and support seamless cross-border transactions, positioning India as a trusted partner in global digital finance.
Driving Innovation and Employment
Patel highlighted that the new centre will foster collaboration and innovation, creating meaningful employment opportunities while enhancing India’s stature as a leader in next-generation digital infrastructure. “This initiative will drive Gujarat’s emergence as a global hub for financial technology and innovation,” he noted.
Future Outlook
As Infosys doubles down on its commitment to delivering cutting-edge digital solutions, the new GIFT City facility stands as a testament to India’s growing role in shaping the future of financial technology. The centre’s focus on talent development and technological advancement signals a promising trajectory for both Infosys and the wider Indian digital economy in the global marketplace.
