Nothing Phone 3 Set to Launch in India: Aiming High with Flagship Features and Bold Design

By Shilpa Reddy , 1 July 2025

The highly anticipated Nothing Phone 3 is scheduled for launch in India on July 1, nearly two years after the debut of its predecessor. Staying true to its minimalist ethos, the company has revealed few official details, yet leaks and teasers have painted a promising picture. With an upgraded Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a robust 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a larger 5,150mAh battery, the Phone 3 marks Nothing’s strongest push into the premium segment yet. The device is expected to compete with performance-oriented smartphones under Rs. 35,000, alongside the debut of the new Nothing Headphones 1.

A Strategic Leap Forward in Hardware and Design

Nothing’s approach to smartphone innovation has been characterized by clean aesthetics and incremental hardware refinements. With the Phone 3, the company appears ready to transcend its niche appeal and enter a more competitive performance tier.

While the brand continues to conceal final specifications, available information indicates that the Phone 3 will feature a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display, retaining the company’s signature Glyph interface — although with potentially reimagined lighting elements. This refined design language, which has become a visual hallmark of the Nothing series, could receive a functional overhaul for improved interactivity or efficiency.

Performance Boost with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

A key highlight of the Phone 3 is its processor upgrade. Moving away from the mid-range Snapdragon 778G in the previous model, the Phone 3 will now be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC. Though not Qualcomm’s flagship chip, it belongs to the high-end Snapdragon 8-series family, delivering superior performance and energy efficiency that positions the Phone 3 more firmly within the premium category.

In addition, multiple RAM and storage configurations are expected, offering users greater flexibility depending on their needs and usage intensity — a welcome addition for gamers, content creators, and multitaskers alike.

A Significant Camera Upgrade: Zoom Comes to Nothing

Nothing’s commitment to photography takes a major leap forward with the inclusion of a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, marking the first time a Nothing smartphone will feature optical zoom capabilities. With up to 3x optical zoom, users can expect improved detail and clarity in distant shots, enhancing the device’s appeal for mobile photography enthusiasts.

The rear camera setup is likely to include two additional 50MP sensors: one for the primary lens and another for ultra-wide-angle shots. This triple-camera system would represent a significant enhancement over the dual-camera setup seen in the Phone 2, reinforcing the brand’s transition into more feature-rich territory.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery performance is another area where Nothing is expected to show measurable progress. The Phone 3 may come equipped with a 5,150mAh battery, an upgrade from the 4,700mAh unit in the previous generation. Combined with the efficiency of the LTPO display and the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, users can expect better endurance even under heavy use.

Fast charging capabilities haven’t been officially confirmed, but if the company follows recent industry trends, users can anticipate at least 45W wired charging, if not more.

Expected Pricing Strategy and Market Positioning

With competitors like the iQOO Neo 10 and Poco F7 already offering the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip at prices below Rs. 35,000, Nothing’s pricing strategy will be critical. Whether the Phone 3 comes in at a similar price point or commands a slight premium for its design and user experience will likely determine its market performance.

Given Nothing’s focus on community and brand identity, the company may justify a slightly higher price with its unique hardware aesthetics, software experience, and new feature set.

Nothing Headphones 1: A New Audio Offering

In parallel with the Phone 3 launch, Nothing is also expected to unveil its latest audio product, the Nothing Headphones 1. Recently leaked renders show the headphones in both black and white color variants, staying true to the brand’s distinctive transparent hardware design. While technical specifications remain under wraps, the release could signal Nothing’s ambitions to build an interconnected product ecosystem.

Conclusion: Nothing’s Moment of Transformation

The launch of the Nothing Phone 3 represents more than just another smartphone release — it marks the company's boldest attempt yet to challenge entrenched players in the mid-premium segment. With substantial upgrades in processing power, imaging capabilities, and battery life, paired with the brand’s distinctive industrial design, Nothing is crafting a compelling narrative for both enthusiasts and mainstream consumers.

Whether this translates into commercial success depends on execution, pricing, and the brand’s ability to convince users that its vision of “less is more” delivers more than meets the eye.
