Finding Aadhaar enrollment and update centres is set to become easier as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) partners with Google to list Aadhaar centres on Google Maps. Google Maps is phasing out its follower feature, signaling a strategic move away from its earlier push toward social engagement within the platform. The functionality, which allowed users to follow Local Guides and content creators for personalized recommendations and updates, is scheduled to be removed in the coming weeks. The decision reflects a broader recalibration of Maps’ core identity—refocusing on navigation, discovery, and utility rather than user-generated social interactions.
